There is no question that Helton's stats are inflated by playing his home games in Denver, the Mile-High City. There is also no question that regardless, he is a terrific player. Alumnus of the University of Tennessee in his hometown of Knoxville, Helton was a first-round pick of the Rockies in 1995 as the eighth overall pick. Helton made it to the majors at the end of 1997 for a "cup of coffee" and hit .280 in 35 games. He hit over .300, usually well over .300, year after year. He has also hit for a lot of power, and played terrific defense at first base. His terrific OPS+, 137, shows that even when adjusting for his home park he is a powerful offensive force.
Helton has earned 151.29 ratings points through 2010.
